Designers, keep pushing the limits of your creativity and never give up the fight reach the perfection of your creations. It’s always appreciated in more ways than one. And always remember that for every dress you sell, there’s most likely going to be a man that needs a great outfit to not look like a vagrant with system shoes/hair/skin on next to her.

Alright alright, I have things to talk about here. So I don’t really keep up on things as much as I used to, but I did happen to stroll by Arai to finish off a look that I had on and I found all sorts of great new stuff. It really gave me that GAP feeling and I love high quality basics. I think that’s a spot that my RL wardrobe is missing, so I think that’s partially why I jumped at putting this look together. In this look the hoodie, khakis, and white shirt underneath are all from Arai. My favorite part about this is that you can wear the khakis straight down or with the rolled cuff (as shown).

The other pieces that I wanted to talk about here are the boots and the hair. First, the boots are newish from FIR & MNA. I say newish because Rob is a creating machine and he always puts out newer things before I finally get around to blogging. These are great pair of dock boots and come in a bunch of colors to fit any look you’re trying to put together. Secondly, the hair comes from Coma and that’s actually where I took the shots for this. I’m a certifiable hair base whore, so when I saw this post on the MAD Image blog I knew had to go check to see if they had any other hair bases. The hair base didn’t really work out for me on this look, but this mohawk really did and it’s one of the most affordable I’ve ever come across. You can get 15 colors all for L$250. I used the Poprocks color for this look because it has some nice blue and purple tones in it that I thought really complemented the look.

We’re gonna work it out today a little editorial style with the oOo Studios Ball. Summer is coming (trust me I can feel it today with the 80F temperature today here) and you’ve got to get that body in motion, so I thought I’d throw this ball out there and give it a go. It has a lot of fun and interesting poses that can keep that avatar in shape or at least look like it’s in shape. Another piece I wanted to talk about in here are these pants from Miamai. They’re pretty great for a pair of parachute pants that will give your look that much of an extra edge.

I can’t remember who turned me onto this store, but I know it was one of the many bloggers that I follow on my Google Reader. Maybe if I had done this post earlier, I would’ve remembered. lol Anyway! This shirt + suspenders + tie combo came from an outfit from Zenith Designs. It’s a great, classic shirt that you can get away with wearing when you’re dressing up or dressing down. The outfit also has a pair of black pants, but, as I mentioned, I switched them out for these parachute pants.

The final thing I wanted to mention here with these details is this watch from Kalnins. If you’re not in the Kalnins group or subscribe-o-matic, I strongly suggest you get into it. Maris Kanto, the designer behind Kalnins, has been pretty diligent about kicking out steals and deals every other week. I actually picked up this Trust watch from Kalnins for half price during one of those 50% off sales on the weekend. It was totally a steal as the quality of Maris’ work is very high.

An emergency fundraising effort for the victims of the crisis in the Pacific that hit on the 10th/11th of march is being set up.

SL is an international community, with a strong base in Japan specifically. This disaster is worldwide and affects us all, as a community SL has risen up time and time again to help out in times of distress, including very recently.

In September 2010 $11,000USD was raised for the Pakistan flood crisis relief fund (UNICEF) at an SL event. An event organised in four days. This is an example of what our community can do, and we are attempting to prepare for a similar, simple but effective, event.

We are calling for anyone who wishes to help with this fundraiser. We will be providing vendors that donate 100% of sales to a charity account (Charity Shelter) for people to place in their stores and at an event location slurl here. The products in these vendors don’t have to be new, but the more new and exclusive items available the more money we will raise, so even a variation of an existing product is appreciated.

We require all brands involved to have one product sold at 100% to the charity, however if more than one item is available the others can be at 100% or 50%.

The main piece of this that everybody and their mom are posting is this fantastic jacket + sweater + giant scarf from Mr. Poet. It’s really an amazing package deal that they have there. As soon as I saw the ad for plurked somewhere I had to jump to the first Mr. Poet location I could find and get it. When first putting this look together I tried to mix and match between the three packages I purchased, but eventually I settled on only using the one. That’s not to say that you can’t mix and match because most of the pieces do fall under a similar color palette to mix and match, but I just felt like this complete set really hit the spot I was going for. Also, Mr. Poet provides layers and attachments so that each item can be worn alone or with everything else, and the quality is such that breaking this all apart for use here and there is easily done.

Now, I’ll break this package from Mr. Poet apart piece by piece. Starting us off is the jacket that is awesome, period. The sculpts are all very well done and style of the jacket really isn’t found anywhere else on the grid (at least of this quality). I also had to pick this set to show off the pattern. This grey plaid pattern is so classic AND you can see how well the pattern flows across multiple sculpts. I’ve purchased plenty of items in my day where the patterns get all misaligned and crazy once you resize a piece to fit your body. Next, the sweater is well textured and gives you the option of having a shorter turtleneck or the extra long turtleneck that covers up over your face. I love that option because it allows you to make any look you have be classic or maybe a little more edgy. Finally, the giant scarf is very cool and definitely the metaphoric “cherry on top” for this set. There aren’t many quality oversized scarves in SL. Even the ones that are quality, you have a major issue with your AO putting them through your av. I found this scarf to work pretty perfectly with my AO. The only hitch is in one of my stands my shoulder goes through on the back side, but it’s nothing that a minor adjustment couldn’t fix.

Finishing off this post I’ll get into a few of the little details I threw into here. In the top right you see the eyes that I used in this post are the atypical eyes you’d expect to see from me. I actually think this is the first time in over a year that I’ve used eyes that weren’t Poetic Colors’. I wanted to pin a piece of flair on this post, if you will, with these Syberia eyes from Beholder. They give a little unexpected cyborg touch to the look, as if I’m completely covered up so you can’t detect the amount of electronics really inside of me. Down to the left we’ve got a little extension from above to show how detailed the buttons are on the jacket. To finish it off the last image in the set, we’ve got a couple of things to talk about. One is these excellent chukka style boots from Kari. Menno Ophelia, the designer behind Kari, recently reopened his shop and these were part of the new items he mentioned when he had the 50% off sale on his old items to make space. They’re great boots and I love the color change laces. The other thing to talk about in the last shot is the cuffs from the Mon Tissu jeans. I noticed the Mon Tissu jeans when they first opened, but I sort of wrote them off as ladies jeans and not unisex. I finally gave in and bought a pair and I haven’t taken them off since I started putting together this post. I’m honestly wearing them right now inSL with a completely different look than this. As with all Mon Tissu items, the texturing is fantastic and their items are always a great base piece.

Speaking of birds before, Jesseaitui, the crow man himself, released another piece from his 2011 collection. It’s called the Amsterdam coat and you can see it above on the left as well as some details in the picture below. I really dig this coat and I knew I had to get it when I saw image on my Flickr friend updates. The details are impeccable as you can see below with the sculpted button that says “Aitui Since 2000″ on it and the shading is also very well done. The scarf is a color change scarf, so you can click it and find whatever color you need it to be and works well with the coat or stand-alone for different outfit as well.

Another thing of note in the picture above, are the poses. Exposeur recently released their latest and greatest set of The Hottie Series (Part 5) and I made the cut! The pose on the left is named Oscar and I love it. Exposeur is definitely a great place to pick up poses and I’m a big fan of how Ruby doesn’t neglect that male poses. It’s always rough to get quality male poses and Exposeur is definitely a cut above many of the rest.

The final thing I wanted to talk about is where I slipped off the Aitui coat on the right to show the contrast shirt from Whippet & Buck. I love high quality basics and W&B always hits that mark. I was lucky enough to actually get the fat pack of these from the 50L Friday event. Yes, the entire collection of these for L$50… it was crazy amazing. Now, they’re up to full price, but still well worth it for L$75 each. They come with a few layers and prim cuffs for the arms.

One truly final thing before I get out of here is this hair called Clarkson from NSD. A short while ago NSD opened up an extension to their already amazing clothing to give us a great line of hair. I went over there and snagged a bunch of the hairs. This one actually came in the second round of hairs released from NSD, but, if you actually read my blog, you know I’m an eternal slacker when it comes to posting things on time. Anyway, I’m peeking at my inv and I have 8 styles from NSD. Considering Naith has only put out 18 styles in the short amount of time that they’ve been open, that right there should definitely speak to the quality of the styles.

Jimmy Eat World – My Sundown

The main piece that I really wanted to talk about in this post is the Winter Jacket from INDI Designs. I know the irony of a winter jacket used in a post when I want to talk about spring, but it really feels like more of a spring jacket to me than a winter jacket. Maybe that’s partially due to the fact that I’m looking outside at falling snow and 40 degrees would be a heat wave. It’s a good transitional jacket and I just really like the styling on it. It’s classic and looks good on just about everybody. I love the little touch of opened collar of the jacket with the opened collar of the shirt. So often I get stuck with trying to put a shirt on under an opened jacket and you have to make sure that the shirt collar is shaped just right to fit inside of the jacket. Mr. Poet also had that with his jacket that I posted a little while ago as well. Also like the Mr. Poet jacket, this comes with a crazy amount of layers. Jamie, the designer of INDI, always puts a lot of different layers into her items and always fantastic to have, especially if I want to put a shirt of hers under a different jacket. To somewhat finish off the look, I tossed on some new-ish jeans from Emery. They fit the color scheme I was looking for, but, as an FYI, the pants layer is no mod. Thus, you won’t be able to loosen them up from your legs.

Speaking of that shirt before, I show it here in my close up pics. It’s a really nice shirt that you get with the jacket, so really the price on the jacket is 2-for-1 deal. It comes with a great sculpted collar and sculpted sleeves specifically for the shirt as well. Another piece I need to talk about is the hair from Urban December. I first saw hair from Urban December on a SLipster post from James, so I quickly scooted over there to see what else they had in there. They had a lot of really great styles. I think I picked up 3 or 4 hairstyles from Urban December and I really dig all of them. They also had resize scripts in their demos and I always love that for my giant head. Finally, I finished this look off with a pair of boots from Hoorenbeek that were just chilling in my inventory. Often I’ll know that I need a pair of boots or shoes to finish off my look, so I go inventory diving. Thankfully, I already had a pair that I could use and didn’t need to go buy any more.

Alright, I’ve got a good amount to talk about here although I’ll probably hit you with more words past my second photo as those shots get close-up on the main pieces. (note the back side of the vest in those shots) Anyway, the main thing I wanted to talk about here is this shirt from Guarded Cross. It’s actually a shirt and vest combo shown here with both on the jacket layer. I love the ability to layer clothing on 2.x. It just makes putting the exact look I’m trying to put together so much easier.

Here’s the part where I digress for a reason. I may have mentioned this a while ago, but I do love to read male blogs. My Google Reader is chocked full of menswear blogs both RL and SL. When I see cool things that other guys have on, I normally venture to check out that store to see what other things they have. Sort of like, “Oh those shoes are cool. I wonder if they have them in green. No they don’t, but check this out! I could totally put together a look around this.” That’s kind of what happened here. I went to Guarded Cross to check out the store because Sixx Yangtz posted a different shirt from them here (slightly NSFW). Although as an FYI, I’d strong suggest you turn off your basic shaders if you’re shopping in the actual Guarded Cross store because there’s some sort of blue light in the store that tints all of the pictures on the items. If you don’t want to go through that trouble, you could also just check them out on Marketplace.

The first shot of the close-ups here has a couple of speaking points. One would be the hair, which is called The Steven from DROT. Doctor Aho has a quality selection of hair and actually since I first bought this he put up 4 new colors with a couple of excellent new brown textures. Personally I went with the black hair, but I actually tinted it darker. One of the new textures he added to his arsenal is a very dark black, called black ice, which is what I would have purchased if I had the option at the time. The other speaking piece in the first photo is the shades. I actually stumbled upon the store these shades came from while poking through a friend’s profile to see if he still had his store up. The name of the place is Gentleman. It kind of feels like the store is half-finished where there seems to be things up, but not set for sale. These shades come with 6 different styles for the lenses, and they’re setup such that the lens is a flat prim and the arms are sculpts.

The last thing to talk about here is the boots from 380. Now, I remember when Froddo Beck had his store TheZoo and 380 was only a line of clothing in his store (I posted one of his outfits back in ’08). Then Froddo up and disappeared for a while, but randomly we heard back from him again around when the 2.x’s started to come out with a collection of these boots. They’re really excellent boots and the textures have really great detail, but not TOO much detail. Sometimes you get items with textures that are just too sharp to almost be real. These boots fall perfectly in that a happy medium between the artistic and realistic.

That’s all I’ve got for this post and, as I mentioned, I’ll have another post coming in the next week or so with a touch of color to it. OH! There is one more thing that’s much like my last post. I sort of jacked up the lighting and pushed my gamma to 2.88 for these shots, so here is a look at what the items look like on the default noon setting.

I can honestly say that this is my favorite and best New Year’s Eve look that I’ve had in SL. It’s just so absolutely quintessential New Year’s Eve. As soon as I saw the picture that came along with the box, I knew this was going to be my New Year’s Eve suit. The detailing of the jewels on the breast of the suit is perfect and too overbearing. You won’t find any bling to the crystals, but there is a very light glow to them. I will mention that breast didn’t exactly fit me very well, so I had to adjust it to go a bit wider. This forced me to do a bit of work to get all of the crystals back onto the breast and not be floating, but, when I finished; it was really worth the effort because of the end result.

You can see a much closer shot of the crystals here and also the cool bow tie with the crystal holding the knot. There are also a couple of other things showing clearly here. The first would be the top hat from Illusions. The vendor for Illusions was really really cool. I could pick what color of band on the hat I wanted and then I could also pick what sort of permissions I wanted the hat to come as. Thus, if I wanted to, I could have very easily purchased the hat as a gift. The other thing I wanted to note is the next in my line of hair bases that I got from White Widow. This one is called Hydra and the detailing is obviously a bit thicker than the one in my last post. Hair bases are totally my latest addiction, so I’ll definitely be on the prowl trolling your blog posts or pics for new ones.

A final thing of note is that it did take me a while to figure out how I wanted to shoot these shots against the background of the Osakki main store at Le Look South. Eventually the accumulated on me and well… things happen. Just ask the people in NYC.

That’s everything I’ve got on this one. I don’t really have any New Year’s resolutions as I don’t really do that kind of thing, but I do have some collective personal goals for 2011 that I’m carrying over from 2010. Thanks for reading everybody and have a fantastic new year!
