Casual & Cold

Ohai! I kind of slightly forgot I had this blog thing going on here. Really what went on is that there was lack of motivation or lack of inspiration to put up a new post. ((Although, I did sneak in a look and interview on Strawberry Singh’s blog that did happen between my last post and this one.)) I spent a TON at the OneEleven event and everything I bought I loved, but then I realized I couldn’t blog any of it because of the limited quantities. I bought tattoos and jackets and tees and suspenders and sweaters and stuff. Speaking of sweaters let’s get into this:

Guess Who’s Back

Back again? Shai-De’s back. Tell a friend! So I recently got the opportunity to… leave right before one of my best friends in SL had her show at Modavia’s SL Fashion Week. Hey I had a family dinner reservation to celebrate my brother’s engagement! Valid reason to leave! I know… she’ll hate me now and later… as if that even changes from how we previously were. 😉 Anyway she was gracious enough to still toss me a blogger’s pack of her new stuff! \o/ Here’s my look that I cooked up from it:

Olio

37 Across – Hodgepodge – 4 letters :: Answer = Olio. Are there any crossword people in the house? Well it leads into my post that I’ve got for today. I have a LOT of things that have just been sitting in my inventory that I always intended to blog, but just never got around to because RL has been pumping on all cylinders, especially with summer on the horizon and the brutal winter we had here in the Midwest. Thus, when I’ve been getting the chance, I’ve been popping off some quick shots of stuff that I’d like to blog. Now to remember what exactly I’m wearing…

Olio

Alright we’ll work the top row first here and left to right. In the upper right we have a look that’s mainly IZUMIYA fashion set number 8. I know, again more black and white from me with IZUMIYA, but I like it. I like the use of the prim top to the skirt layer. I don’t think I’ve seen that anywhere else and especially for a male av it works because we’re a wider bunch than our female counterparts. The skirt layer will keep to your form so your legs aren’t always poking through it with your AO and the prim part covers up the need to futz with the poof of the skirt that always seems to mess with my lower back. Granted you get all of this innovation for the low price of L$25…seriously. Another piece I need to talk about here are the shoes. The Sk8Sneaks from ZHAO are pretty awesome. This is actually a creation of Lissa Maertens of Cattiva e Cattivo. I was talking to her the other day and she had told me that she was starting to create shoes under the Zhao brand. Personally, I think this is a great addition to the Zhao brand because Zhao has mainly wrapped their brand around the female shoe. Bringing in somebody like Lissa that has successfully created some great male shoes really helps them. I’d love to see it make Zhao a staple in the male shoe arena or at the very least shake some things up. The style I chose for this look is the white zebra ones, but there are a lot of different colors and styles to choose from.

The next two down the line to the right we have a couple of main pieces that I’d like to talk about from Laqroki. Both pieces surround the color blue (go figure) and the first is the Eagle jacket in blue. I can’t really pinpoint what exactly makes me love this jacket so much. I think it’s probably the great hue of blue that they used in it and the subtle striping that looks like shading until you get in close. You know, I notice that Laqroki really uses a lot of gray scale tones in their clothing, but they really need to throw some color in there. Usually when they throw in color they get it right and I seem to always end up feeling like I want another color but it’s not there. The other thing I wanted to speak on in this look is the hair. UncleWeb Studios has been open for…maybe two weeks and Din has already released another new hair. The latest to be released is this Jin02.03 hair. I really like a lot of the new hairs from UncleWeb and the new textures are fantastic as well. Although I will admit that there is one thing that I don’t like. The mesh black hair textures are a little inconsistent. In some of the hairs they’re really noticeable and in others they’re much more subtle. I prefer the subtle, but it does make for somewhat of a guessing game as to what you’re going to get. Anyway, I like this hair here and this is the 03 style in black. It has some structure to it and then some playfulness to it as well. Jin 02.03 gets a thumbs-up from me.

The other Laqroki one that I threw in here in the upper right is the white blazer. This version of the blazer comes with a light blue undershirt and it just felt so nice a light for spring that I had to get it. I picked up a nice little 3-pack of the blazers without the shirts underneath as well because I like to mix & match shirts underneath.

Moving to the bottom row we have a store that I picked up on from a Japanese blog that’s in my blogroll over there >>>>>>>> It’s a blog by Cary Kiarx and the store is called NWYD. I picked up three of these shirts, but the one I really wanted to blog was this red one. I mean if you look at the images placed up there by Cary, you see all of the sweaters over shirts hanging up on the wall and this red one practically jumps off of the wall and says, “BUY ME! BUY ME!” I listened to its Sirens call, bought it, and couldn’t have been happier with my purchase. When you buy this shirt you get regular sculpted cuffs without the button-up shirt cuff showing up underneath and then a version of the cuff with the button-up shirt cuff showing. I really like how they worked out the cuff showing through the prims.

Next up we’ve got something that’s pretty cool. Although the tie and shirt are sold separately they still mesh together really well. Essentially the tie is sort of an add-on to the shirt. You can get this shirt with the regular collar and then for an added L$80 you can purchase the collar + tie combo. What’s really nice about it is that you can wear the tie with any of the plethora of colors that Schadenfreude provides this Oxford shirt in. The ties come with a HUD with which you can change the color of the collar to any of the collar to any of the colors of the shirt. Thus, no matter what color of shirt you want to buy, you can customize your tie to fit it. Again on this look, I tossed the Sk8Sneaks from Zhao in blue zebra onto here. As I mentioned before, I like the subtle mesh black from UncleWeb Studios and this free style up on the counter in the store called Reed in mesh black is perfection. Also in this look we have taped Buddy glasses from Artilleri. Artilleri has been coming out strong with some new releases for men. They’ve been covered so much that I’ve held myself back from overloading you with them, but I do really like these Buddy glasses. They’re very geek chic and come in a plain version along with this extra geek taped version.

The last look I have for you is actually the oldest one that I’ve had sitting in my inventory. It is the Argrace With You sweater + scarf. I love the softness of the texture on the scarves and richness of the color in them. I had to do a bit of futzing with the size of the scarf to fit around the prim neck piece (they don’t come connected together), but it was well worth it for a sweater of this quality. The prim neck and sweater come on where they’re connected to different points of the body. This allows for ease of leaving the scarf on or taking the scarf off. The main thing I like about this again comes down to the color. I like the deep olive color on this sweater and the half-rolled sleeves. It feels very everyday and almost mountain man. I really dig that about this.

That wraps up my olio o’ looks here. Please note the new page to my blog called the Creators Glossary. It covers all of the stores that I use in my blog. I’ll continue to provide slurls in my posts, but that’s more of a log of the history of places that I’ve covered in blog and what I covered or like best about the stores. The only letters not covered in there are Q and X. If you know of any menswear stores that begin with Q or X…let me know and I’ll check ’em out. 🙂 Here’s the laundry list of items with extra starch:

69ers

Settle down pervoids. This isn’t about the sexual act. It’s about the hair store in SecondLife(tm) that seems to be drumming a lot of quality buzz in the female realm. They recently released some new female hair that I picked up on in the feed, so I did a little sleuthing and tracked back their releases on their blog to see if they had any male hair. I struck gold when I hit a blog post of theirs from August 21st. I slid on over to their store and snapped up both hairs in the 5-pack that included a black shade. You’ll find that’s the most prevalent shade I wear. Now, this is just a hunch, but I believe the name of their hair store 69 is because both Kinoko and Kumii (the hair stylists) are Japanese. Thus, 69 yielded me to believe that it is the “in yo” symbol of Japan (or more well known as the yin yang of Taoism out of China). Alright back to the fashionliciousness of this and let’s roll out of concepts that are a bit too large for me to wrap my brain around right now.

Sweetest 69

My first outfit above features the LIVE JAZZ hair from 69 in jetblack. The main item in this outfit that jumps out at everybody like it did to me is the One Way sweater from Sweetest Goodbye. It’s a very thick-knit sweater with playful zippers approximately crossing the heart. The red and yellow on this one really jumped out at me as colors that are not often put together, but when they’re hit just right they can really make an item pop. This sweater almost reminds me of an older sweater by GearShift called 8-ball which is in a burnt orange color, but this one has definitely been brought fashion forward. Coupled up with this sweater I have a newer pair of jeans from one of my favorite stores in SL, named Calypso Giano. I fell in love with a t-shirt of theirs because of how up front and in-your-face it was by the use of a little text. Also, the angel with the giant wings on the back, I thought was a really awesome graphic as well. The jeans here are the stonewashed jeans in LiaG A. I grabbed the fat pack of the jeans because I liked them that much. Within each pair of jeans you get two versions LiaG A (with your standard straight prim cuffs) and B (where the jeans are a little looser and the prims are cuffed at the bottom). The final piece of the puzzle here are the SE (special edition) version of the Hoorenbeek Davit Boots in black. The difference in this version of the Davit boots is that the stitching and edging around the boots are in red, whereas the rest of the Davit boots have stitching and edging that blends in. I bought these boots a long while ago at a Hoorenbeek party and I can’t remember exactly why they were made, but I believe the initial creation of the special edition version was for some sort of contest, where if you bought them it gave 1 vote to Hoorenbeek in the contest.

Aoharu 69ed

Moving on, I tossed together a second look with the other hair (well hat + hair combo) here from 69 appropriately entitled SCULPTURE (the hat is sculpty). What actually connects these two outfits, without the obvious connection of the hair, is that I actually saw a guy wearing the One Way sweater right after I had purchased this white shirt from Aoharu. With that amazingly wonderful tool that LL has added into the game, I inspected the collar on the sweater and away we went. Hitting rewind on the remote here, I was shopping with my gf at Aoharu and simply knew that I had to have one of these shirts and ended up buying two of them. I asked which of two colors that my gf liked and then I went and bought both of them anyway (resistance is futile). This is a very cool and collected shirt. It’s a great shirt to dress down in and the roll up of the sleeves is the icing on the cake. My favorite part about this shirt, as it is such a rare joy, I barely had to adjust the prims on my shape. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m pretty handy with the resizer scripts and stretching an item to fit, but it’s such a fantastic simple pleasure when you don’t have to do a whole lot of adjusting. Also, note that the prims attach to the forearms, so any watches worn will be taken off or will take off the prim cuffs. Anyway, this is Aoharu shirt is definitely in my top 5 of classic white shirts in SL. No shirt has stolen the crown from the semi-sheer shirt that came underneath the jacket from the Last Call Ciao Evening Suit (unfortunately no longer available in-world) yet, but we shall see what the SL future holds. Finishing off this outfit I tossed in my previously posted Shai jeans and the Hoorenbeek Docker Shoes in white leather. I’m definitely a fan of Hoorenbeek footwear, and I would suggest their shoes to anybody. Their shoe prices are on the higher side, but they’re definitely worth taking a look at.

That’s all I’ve got for this post. My next post I’m planning will be a look into a pet peeve of mine, and you know I’m going to have some fun with it. Enjoy the rest of your weeks everybody and I’ll speak at you next time when I aim for the jugular and probably end up in the popcorn machine.

Solamente Amor

Hey people. I’m back at you again with another one. The other day I was talking to Shai Delacroix and giving her some crap (because that’s just what I do) and she had mentioned to me that she was updating some of her older suits. Randomly, Shai tossed the Amorsolo Suit in Black at me. Later on that day after the conversation I put on the suit and I really really liked it. The crispness and detail of the textures are pretty amazing. The shading on this is pretty spectacular too. I think this is definitely a great update to her older version of the suit, which at the time I felt was a little too harsh on the textures and thus purchased The Luna Suit back then. As I started to look it over and feel out the attitude and lifestyle that the suit represented, I knew a club scene would have to be the place to go with this. What really set me on club scene was really my thinking about how great this would be for some of the RL modeling agency parties I’ve been to. (I’m on the client side of the industry) I could definitely see myself rocking this look for one of those. Now if only my bank account would allow me to splurge on something IRL like this. This is suit comes in black, as shown in this, and also in a stone grey as well (the original Amorsolo suit had a grey jacket as well). Something else you’ll notice in these pictures is that down the middle are what you’re really going to get when you see these items in-world. The lighting at Seven Ultra Lounge is very pink/purple, so note that the suit and shoes do not have that tint to them. That’s simply how windlight affects the clothing.

Solamente Amor

Also featured in this look is a ring that I got as a gift for my 4-year SL birthday, which was on the 4th of November. I know; it feels like yesterday that I came into this crazy world. I remember the first night I got into the game; I went to a club with a group of my friends that brought me into the game. There was some girl dancing all sexy and she had a whip that she was spanking my buddy with. I also remember flying around on one of my first days and randomly going into a house where two people were getting it on. Of course the entire group had to follow me, so there were about 5 of us just standing there while the two were trying to get it on. Oh man, I’m practically falling out of my chair laughing just thinking about it. And you know that when you’re a n00b flying around in a group, you just locate green dots and go to them because you want to see what they’re up to. Knowing what I did as a n00b, makes me a little more patient when someone else does the same thing to me when their flying over is simply in curiosity and not to grief.

Ok ok enough about my n00balicious cock block. This ring comes with the “Peace is Sexy” set from Lucas Lameth Fashion Jewelry. I really like the simplicity of it. It’s fashionable without an overstatement. Items like this are quality to have in your inventory because they won’t overshadow your clothing, they just lightly complement it. Another item that I have in my inventory like this is the elephant hair bracelet from Guillaume pour homme. It’s a staple in my accessories and a piece that’s rich in African history. I’m not wearing it in this obviously, but it’s a great accessory to have.

I think that’s all I’ve got for now. Stay tuned because I’m altering my body to squeeze into my next adventure in blogging. Trust me; it’ll be a whole lot of fun. I promise.

The Rundown
Suit: Casa del Shai – The Amorsolo Suit in Black L$650

My Morning…er…Favorite Jackets

Helloooooooooooo everybody! I’m back! *toots horn like James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thang”* Alright, I took a lot of time here and put together a large collection of my favorite jackets. What really got the ball rolling on this were the Tracksuits from GearShift. Donovan Brennen (creator) unveiled them for the Harajukubox event that they had a little while back. Unfortunately one of the three that were out was exclusive to the event, so the Mech Love style that I have with a Mech pattern on them is no longer available. Anyhoo….that’s actually what got me started on jackets. The way I’m going to slide you shoulders and zip you up into these jackets would be in this order: Blues, Black & Red, Dressy, and Leather. Some of the items will overlap categories, but generally I think I got them in the right spots.

Let’s start this off with the Blues. The main shot (closeup) is a jacket I picked up a little while ago when I first got tped into Novocaine on one of Pheobe’s shopping trips. The official name of it would be the Dusk Rider. I really love the color splashes across this jacket because theyI coupled it up with GearShift Maverick jeans in ripped faded blue. I really like all of the new jeans that GearShift has out because they go with just about everything. Down to my feet, we’ve got the essential FNKY! Racers in Blue. I was really really enamored with these when they first came out and they reminded me a lot of one of my favorite shorts from The Animatrix (pic & link to short on YouTube). Finishing off this outfit we have my classic Alaskan Aviators from The Young Urban and on top is the hairstyle Dan from UncleWeb Studios in cool black. Let me tell you something about what UncleWeb does with their hair that I really like is that they mold the hair to different head styles. Style A is for a thinner head and then Style B is for a wider/more round head. I love this option because often I’ll buy a hair that was created for a thinner head style (as my head is more round) and you almost need to adjust a multitude of prims to get it right. If you’re just trying to enlarge the hairstyle using your basic stretch tools, you’ll end up with (not a forehead or a fivehead, but…) a sixhead.

Blue Jackets Collage

Moving down the line we’ve got the jacket portion of the aforementioned GearShift Tracksuit. This would be the jacket from the M.I.A. Track Jacket, which will definitely let you fly like paper and get high like planes. It may also aide in you becoming a bonafide huslta makin’ your name. This jacket comes with matching pants as well that are a basic black with the same double blue stripes up the seams. Last, but certainly not least, is the Armidi Moto Leather Jacket in Jumper. I was one of the lemmings that got the group notice and rushed over to check them out. The colors on this one are pretty excellent, as is almost everything that Hudsen Armidi (Emma Gilmour) puts out. Some of the other colors you may remember from such pop references as Michael Jackson’s red jacket and Uma Thurman’s iconic yellow Kill Bill outfit. A final note on this collection would be that before my hard drive crash and all of my images from the S/S09 collections were wiped, the dominant color throughout a lot of the collections was a blue like the one displayed in the Novocaine jacket and FNKY! Racers.

Gliding right along here we get to some more of the fall colors and my favorite black & red jackets. First, please note that an extra one to this can be noted in my last fashion post with the latest Laqroki jacket that I love. The jackets that I tossed into this one would be from Civvies, Moderno, Sinistyle, and Armidi Limited.

Black & Red Jacket Collage

The full picture on the left is the Charlatan coat in black from Civvies. I really like this jacket. It just feels fuzzy and warm, but with badass written all over it. The cut and style of it reminds me of coats that the Russians wore in WWII (if they buttoned up the middle and had forearm straps/belts). The first iteration of this came in the form of a coat named Road Agent and Posy had branched it off into a few different styles in its evolution. Going down the middle we have the Moderno Block Track jacket in red. Despite the tragic event that occurred with Ginny Talamasca, Starley Thereian still has the selection of clothing that she made for Moderno out in the Lithium City sim. What I love the most about this jacket is that it really hones in the 80s sports effect. Again reminiscing, but it reminds me of something that Kevin Kline would’ve worn in The Big Chill. Yes, I was only 1 when that movie came out, but that doesn’t refute the fact that it’s a classic movie with an amazing soundtrack. Moving right along, footloose and fancy free. The bottom jacket is Sinistyle and at the time it was a capitalization on the hit TV show Heroes. Although originally made because Sylar was the villain in Seasons 1 & 2, Sylar is now maybe a good guy? A few too many plot twists in this latest season (#3) to know exactly where Sylar lies. He’s in a sea of gray with a lot of other characters. Ok, I’m a Heroes freak! I’m sorry! Let me get at why I like this coat 1) I love the cut of it and how the flexi moves when you walk. 2) The shine texture on the shirt underneath. Though simply designed after the character, the shine fabric brings this older coat very fashion forward. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of items that are overly shiny, but you gotta hit ’em with a little shine. Finally, in this we’ve got Armidi Limited’s Military Refuge jacket in red. This, like a coat coming up later, is a very very classic coat and the military theme that strutted its way down the runways earlier this year for the F/W ’08 collections. As with most everything @ Armidi Limited, this coat comes in a plethora of colors (10 total if memory serves me correctly and mostly darker tones) to fit anything you want to wear.

The next set of jackets I’m going to toss you way would be my dressier coats. Although, that’s not saying that you cannot wear them with jeans because they actually do work very well with them and that is demonstrated in my collage here:

Dressy Collage

Left to right here we have the MUWU English Boy blazer and shirt combo, Savvy Avvy black woolen coat, and Back & Forth’s pea coat in black. The MUWU English Boy I came across in another blog back in April. To be honest, I never really wore it all that much because I couldn’t get a color scheme that blended well enough back then. While throwing this idea around in my head and cruising through my inventory, I came across it again, and somehow it just clicked as to what I should toss on with it. In this shot we have Elephant Outfitters – Classic Elephant Jeans in a Dirty Dark wash, Hoorenbeek’s Patagonia Boots in Used Black, and Aitui’s Double Wrap Muffler Scarf in Storm. Down the line we have the Savvy Avvy black woolen coat. It’s an older coat, but still an excellent coat. I really like how the black and cream colors are coordinated here. The scarf and gloves both come with the coat as well as the multitude of attachments. It has a very Londoner feel to it. I could see Prince William strutting around town in this jacket on a snowy, English day. Lastly, we have an even older coat from Back & Forth. This has to be one of my favorite sets of pea coats because A) They’re in expensive, B) They remind me of a pea coat that I actually own, and C) They go with a lot of different things. Though they’re now outdated in terms of true quality, I still love these pea coats like no tomorrow. Also, added in here is the Gritty Kitty stripes & plaids scarf. This scarf is touch scripted to change into 9 different textures and I own just about all of the scarves from Gritty Kitty as I love them so much.

The last group of jackets can be found on the beaches of Florida, if we were talking about human leathery skin in this case. 🙂 This is a collection of some of my favorite leather coats, but these are your more traditional leather coats (unlike the leather moto jacket from Armidi that was mentioned before.

Leathers Collage

Again working left to right we have the Amodica ~ Rider in Copper. This coat comes in a multitude of colors. Randomly at a fashion show (I can’t remember which) I saw someone rocking this in white and it looked just as great as this one in copper. I really love the rich color in this coat. It gives it that extra tint of authenticity, if you will. The next coat in line is about the most badass coat in the entire group. This is an older coat that’s now only available via SL Exchange from Brutal Gear. The leather on this coat almost exudes the stories of the road that it was worn on. To cap it off it has spiked shoulder prims and a thick, loose belt strap. If you need a coat that says “Don’t even think about messing with me in a bar fight” this is it. The next up is actually a full outfit from TheZoo called Aviator with a single item switched out (Shai’s Men’s Ribbed tank in cream instead of the shirt). This is one of the first coats that I liked that connected at mid-torso and actually 1 of the first stores I’ve ever encountered where I don’t have to adjust any of the parts because they fit my larger av perfectly 99% of the time. I really wish that Froddo Beck would keep creating as he hasn’t put out anything in a long time. I think there’s a lot more depth of to his line that he hasn’t tapped into, and I hate to see a designer fall short of the potential that I see in his current clothing. This is a classic cool outfit in my inventory that I could wear to just about anywhere. The flexi is very well done. Saving one of the best for last, I first became obsessed with this coat when, again, I was perusing the crowd at a fashion show and saw it on Daydream Langway. I went to EtchD not even searching for this Drifter Gunslinger coat in brown because at that time I was looking for new tats and I had given up on my search. EtchD is mainly known for the tats, but this coat is amazing. You get a wonderful leather coat with a tattoo-inspired design on it. I truly love the brilliance of that as a male consumer. It’s along the same lines as an Ed Hardy, but much less colorful and gives a strong male feel to it. I love the Wild West feel to it as well like an updated version of the outlaw’s jacket. For a closer look at the design on this as well as the back of the jacket from TheZoo, check them out here.

That’s all I have for this time through of my favorite jackets. I’m sure down the road, I’ll make updates or probably forgot one that got lost in my immense inventory, but for now this is a solid representation of all of my favorite coats in all of SL. I’d strongly suggest dropping by the slurls below and grabbing all of these jackets as the weather begins to fade toward the middle of fall with winter just turning onto the block. I just hope our winter doesn’t extend into March as shown in my Snowmageddon pix on my Flickr (add me as a contact if you want to see them). Anyway enough of my rambling, here are the full credits for all of the pictures above. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll try my best to not hold out this long for future posts.

And suits so fine they make Sinatra look like a hobo…

John Coltrane – My Favorite Things

Okay so maybe my suits aren’t as fantastic as that of Ron Burgundy or Ol’ Blue Eyes, but this is a selection of my favorite suits in ALL of my virtual closet. I’ll give you my most classic and iconic suits that I’ve collected over my years in this fantastic world of SecondLife™, and you’ll get these in chronological order. My favorite dress shoes will be sprinkled throughout these shots, but I’ll give you the skinny on those at the tail end here. I’m not much for hype, so let’s get into this…

#1 Musashi Do ~ Nottingham Winter ~ L$250 (slurl)

Acquired: December 13, 2004

**checking on current availability of watch**
Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Brown L$325
Hair: Armidi – The Grammar in Chocolat L$295 (4-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Clean Shaven L$1,850 single (L$3,000 pack)

This suit is the oldest suit in my entire inventory and I clearly remember buying this suit. I really felt like I needed to step up my game. I had barely dabbled in fashion back then as I was n00bled with a basic hair afro that only makes its way out with the 70’s novelty Travolta Suit from Shai (and hair pick my fantastic former friend Inez Angelus made for me). That being said…no I will not show you any pictures of my afro. Alright, enough history back to the suit. Despite its age this suit has a whole lot of pop in it. When I put on this suit again to shoot it, I felt a great sense of pride. That pride is rooted in actually having the tools in my closet today that can really demonstrate how amazing and put-together this suit was. The shoes, skin, and hair really unlock the potential that always resided in this deep blue suit. Do yourself a favor and stop by Musashi Do to pick this suit up. You won’t regret it and for the price you really can’t.

#2 DE Designs ~ DE After 5 Tux in Silver ~ L$500 (slurl)

Acquired: December 26, 2005

** Cartier Tank Francaise watch no longer available in-world that I know of**
Glasses: Damani – TopRim Glasses L$70
Ring: Blue Stone – Mens Black Onyx & Diamond Ring L$250
Shoes: Shiny Things – City Walk Shoes – Black L$300
Hair: Armidi – The Grammar in Midnight II L$295 (5-pack)
Skin: The Abyss – Scorpio_Osiris 1(C) Smooth L$2,000 single (L$4,800 set)

The story behind the After 5 Suit from DE Designs is not all that long, but, as noted by the date acquired, has lasted a very long time. This suit is essentially an upgrade to my suits that I would always wear to weddings in SL. My original suit that I’d always wear to weddings was from DFO and at this time I decided that it was again time to step up my game. This is the best wedding-capable suit that I have in my inventory and to this day I still get IM’s about this suit…even when I’m in Blaze right before a ceremony for a friend and looking to see what suits Mr. Columbia had available. I literally laughed out loud when the IM “Hey I’m shopping for a suit for my bf. Where did you get your suit?” came in. It also gives me a nice segue into my next suit.

#3 Blaze ~ Men’s Power Suit in Charcoal ~ L$500 (slurl)

Acquired: March 17, 2007

Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: JCS (Jeepers Creepers) – H&H Black Oxfords L$200
Hair: Naughty – Modern Edge in Black Pearl L$300 (3-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

Who says men don’t like options? Personally, I’m a huge fan of options. Although, to put it in man terms, think of it as a pair of reversible shorts. Same item, but multiple usage. I mean this suit comes packed with stuff. You get 4 different base shirts (biz blue, black, charcoal, white) and 11 ties (black, blue, gold, green, lavender, mauve, peach, red, turquoise, white, yellow). Needless to say your mix and match possibilities are really endless. Some of the hues of the ties won’t work with some of the shirts, but that’s straight up my opinion by what I see with how the tie melds with the rest of the suit. Also, I’m not a huge fan of the skirt layer for suit jackets as I am a larger av. More often than not you have to make it so poofy that it ends up looking like a parachute even with a size 0 butt. Overall I think Blaze executed the skirt layer quite well on this suit jacket. It’s much better than most other suits that I’ve gotten with the skirt layer on the jacket. I think it would be a fantastic to have the ability to use a long jacket layer OR a skirt layer. That way it would cater to all shapes and sizes so much better. Even with that, the options on this suit largely outweigh any skirt layer issues. It’s a fantastic suit.

#4 *Shai* ~ The Luna Suit ~ L$600 (slurl)

Acquired: June 26, 2007

**Cartier Tank Francaise watch and Last Call BIshonen Men’s Dog Tags no longer available in-world**
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Brown L$325
Hair: Gritty Kitty – Czech Mate in Black L$130 (single)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

Oh the Shai Luna suit…I can’t explain how amazing it felt when I slipped into this. As soon as this suit rezzed on me I was amazed with it. It was the first time I felt a true air of confidence simply by the clothes I was wearing. Immediately I told people about how I felt like Rusty, the supremely confident and put-together character that Brad Pitt played in all of the Ocean’s Eleven movies. It’s that classic cool that is unmatchable by anything in the entire world. Of this collection of my favorites, I’m extremely partial to this one. Shai does such an amazing job on the textures of this suit. I had already purchased my fantastic Travolta suit and the Adulterer suit from Shai, but this was really a designer’s “coming out party” for Shai. She really blew up on the male fashion scene when this suit hit the shelves and I really can’t see why she wouldn’t. Shai! <3!

#5 Styles of Edo ~ Flannel Suit L$200 + Shirt & Tie Rp L$68 (slurl)

Acquired: July 22, 2007

Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: JCS (Jeepers Creepers) – H&H Black Oxfords L$200
Hair: Armidi – The Law in Midnight II L$295 (5-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

In this shot here…I feel like its a cross between businessman and mobster. I really like this suit’s classic lines. The amount of options that are available for this suit are comparable to that of the Blaze Power Suit. I say that because on the wall (currently upstairs) at Styles of Edo there is an abundance of shirts and tie combos for L$68. Personally, I stylized this with the purple shirt and funky tie because I felt like I had to throw a little texture at this one. This is most definitely applicable in a RL sense as well. To liven up a suit that feels pretty basic and flat, all you need to do is add just a hint of spice to it like a funky tie, a shirt with some low shine to it or, if available, even a pocket square in a bright color that lights up your personality a little. (btw both suits sandwiching this one have pocket squares…go figure) Where’s my straight eye for the straight guy show? 😉

#6 Redgrave ~ Black Striped Suit L$850 (slurl)

Acquired: September 8, 2007

**Again watch no longer available in-world that I know of**
Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Ring: Blue Stone – Mens Black Onyx & Diamond Ring L$250
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Black L$325
Hair: Aitui – Sleepwalk Hair in Black L$225
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

The last, but certainly not least, favorite suit I have to give you would be the Redgrave Black Striped suit. I’m not going to BS you about this. I really wavered as to whether I should buy this suit or not because of the price tag. Don’t get me wrong, this suit is really amazing, but maybe it’s just in my blood that I’m a little on the cheap side when it comes down to actually throwing down the L$ for something. The quality of this suit is undeniable and I think that’s what drove me to buying it despite its price tag. This suit simply exudes excellence with its clean pinstripes. It almost feels like a casual suit for Sammy Davis, Jr. updated to fit today’s fashion standards. It also comes with a buttoned-up shirt as well if you’d like to close it up and make it more formal, but I love a good casual suit.

Finally, the shoes that I dig the most. I know that there are a lot of dress shoes out there good and bad, but here are my favorites. These shoes have stood up to the test for every situation where I have needed to wear a suit and never faltered. The Spencers from Shiny Things are the best to work the dressy casual angle and the other three tend to lean toward the dressier side of the scale.

L to R: Shiny Things – City Walk in Black + Brown, Shiny Things – Spencers Black + Brown, Jeepers Creepers – H&H Black Oxfords

I really hope that this post was helpful to those of you out there searching for a quality suit. I stand behind every single one of these suits that I showed you guys today. There are more suits in my inventory that I’d love to show, but I really had to limit myself to 6 here. If I wrote about them all, you’d all go crazy at how long this post is. That is if you’re not even reading this because you stopped reading already. lol Other notable suits that were not pictured or mentioned in this post would be Simone’s Carl Suit in Olive and the Blaze Regal Tux – Special Edition. This is what I’ve got and what you can look forward to in my posts. May your second lives be brighter and more fashionable!
