Hardcore

I was randomly mentioning on Plurk how much I love exploring shops around other shops. I was thrust into a store location from a post on SLMen by Dominic Palisades. All I remember is that it was the main store island for a female designer, but that’s beside the point. I noted the little shops around the main shop, so I used my superspy 512 draw distance to poke around and see what I could find for menswear. I mean why fly around to every store and get disappointed when I find out its all femme clothes? I digress; I came upon a store called Naith Smit Designs. The quality and care by which each item was made really blew me away. I had no choice, but to buy. The designs that you’ll find at NSD are definitely on the more hardcore side of life. It gave me some reason to bust out all of my items from the darker side of SL that I haven’t touched in a while.

As I’ve mentioned before, it only takes me one item to make me dive into creating an outfit around it. The Rockabilly tee from NSD set me on the mission of earth tones and hardcore. Immediately Calypso Giano came to mind, so I tossed on these jeans. The LiaG jeans in M 7 with their brown tint were a perfect fit. Once I had on the jeans I noticed that the waist line of the jeans and the bottom of the tee actually met perfectly together, but, so as to not flash my button at every onlooker, I threw on this Kyoot Army Voodoo Doll belt. No comment on whom I’ve dubbed as the inspiration behind the doll, but they said voodoo doesn’t work on them. I intend to find out. Next, I realized that not many of my hairs really worked with the look so I went back a bit in time. In one of my earlier posts on here I had a pink mohawk from The Abyss. I strolled on back into The Abyss for the first time in a long time and picked up my old mohawk in a new color. Then, I looked down at my boots and knew I needed a better pair to get the look across. My previously blogged Tonktastic short combat boots hit the spot perfectly. To finish off the look I needed implements of destruction (Arlo Guthrie fans? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?) and I hit pretty close to the mark with these Penance bracers from Sinistyle and back to NSD for the Rock’n’Rolla chain. (Excuse the lack of writing style…it’s late and I’m fading) And now for the pretty pictures and laundry list of items:

Be Koi

Yo yo yo. I’m back at you once again. Now that I’m finally awake after the tryptophan nap (like chloroform, but without the headache) that is synonymous with Thanksgiving for me, I have some fashion to swing your way. I’ll come at you in three parts here and each part is set apart below the full shots here:

KoiShift Collage

The first part is these jeans from GearShift. Recently GearShift was used in a collection of images for Homme Magazine. What I noticed as I flipped through the magazine was that the jackets and sweaters were used, but nada on the jeans. Obviously, I don’t know what items were given for that shoot, but the jeans are definitely something to be displayed. GearShift jeans are definitely some of my favorites. I really feel like Donovan nailed a great pair of jeans in his Maverick jeans set that come in 2 colors (blue and black) and 2 styles (plain and ripped). From there he scooped up a handful of his own style and tossed it in to create these three unique jeans. Left to right above, we have the Rider Punch, Tainted Love, and Rider Kick jeans. The Riders are obviously influenced by Japanese style. That Japanese/harajuku/anime field is what Donovan usually throws our way and he has a hard time missing. The textures and graphics on these jeans really do pop out at you. The Tainted Love jeans touch on another style that you’ll find throughout a lot of Donovan’s items and that is graffiti. On this denim masterpiece it seems he took his blue jean texture and gave it a very nice dark blue hue and adorned it with very nice graffiti touches. If I had to order them, the Tainted Love jeans are definitely at the top of the three. Also, I do have something else I need to mention. Donovan has a new main store location for GearShift. It’s pretty cool and has some extra freebies in it if you’re in the group. I believe he opened it up on Monday and it’s the GearShift Academy, so go check it out in Raven Moore.

The second part comes in relation to the Japanese influence brought by Donovan. Koi in Japanese simply means “carp”, but koi is actually a homophone (a word that sounds the same as another, but has different meanings) that also means “strength and perseverance”. The Japanese legend says that if a koi were strong enough to make it all the way up stream and climb the falls at a location called Dragon’s Gate on the Yellow River that it would then turn into a dragon. Based on that legend the koi is also a symbol of worldly aspiration and advancement. I seem to be drawn to tattoos of koi. One of these tattoos I’ve actually already shown you guys back in my Golden Years. Left to right again we have the Koi Upper Body from EtchD, Koi Farm from Aitui, and then again the Serenity tattoo from iNFLiCT.

The final part to this all are the SOREAL Superstars that have been out for a while now. I really wanted to blog on these shoes closer to our historic US election, but I didn’t have a chance to. I say that because on these shoes I actually manned up and bought the full pack of them from Kwamey, and with the full pack I got a special texture in 3 styles. The extra styles have the same base texture of groundbreaking and influential black musicians in 3 different colors. The style displayed on the right side is the extra style in purple. Now, I did have to ask Kwamey for the exact name of the artists displayed on this texture, but I will say that I was not all that far off on them when I dropped a note card guessing on him (I got 8 out of 12). If you look closely you can see some of them. The official word from Kwami on his texture is as follows:

#1 Bob Marley, Roy Ayers, George Clinton, Louis Armstrong
#2 Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye
#3 Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, James Brown, Quincy Jones

These are definitely the most realistic Superstars on the SL market and the price says so. Personally, I wish they were scripted like the Pornstars from Urban Bomb Unit, where you can mix and match textures, lace colors, shells, stitches and other portions, but sadly they are not. You’re locked into the styles you buy. These shoes are size scripted allowing you to resize them to your feet with ease.

Alright that’s all I’ve got on this one. I hope you enjoyed it and seriously slide over to snag any and/or all of these. Even if you don’t buy these, at least check out what they all have to offer. One of the things I love about fashion blogs is that even if I don’t particularly like what the blogger had on, the designer may have something else that strikes a perfect note with me. It’s all about discovery and expansion, so that you can strike that perfect note of your own. Also, note that I snuck in my favorite pink mohawk again. That’s one amazing sculpty prim I tell you.

Golden Years

Golden Collage

Back at you right away again. Probably the quickest turnaround that I’ve had on posts before, but this one has a lot less going on than all of those jackets. I’m going clean and simple on this one. What got the ball rolling on this one was when a friend asked me about where she could find casual menswear. I listed off a bunch of places for her, but after a conversation much later she mentioned that they went to Valiant. I didn’t mention that in my first slew of places that I mentioned, but the name rung a bell. I strolled by to check out the place and eye up the clothing. There’s a larger selection of clothing than I expected, but then again I didn’t expect an entire sim for a store I had heard about in passing. Personally, I picked up Peebles Scream Shirt and the Gold/Silver Black Denim Jeans.

Obviously this outfit formed around the jeans, but I will use this space to gripe just a little about the shirt. This also is the case with the Laqroki coat I blogged before. I must implore designers to not connect collars to pockets. Personally, I use all animated stands for my AO and when you have pockets disappearing into your body it makes a fantastically stylish shirt/jacket into a major annoyance. I have the prim skills to unlink, relink, and assign alternate attachment points for prims, but I’d rather not have to. The use of alternate attachment points like the left & right pec for prim shirt pockets + left & right shoulder for straps up on the shoulders are ideal. The extra prim attachments are really not all that overbearing and work a TON better with the SL avatar. [/end rant]

Okay back to the fashion. My friend that brought Valiant to the front of my mind will cringe at the fact that I’m doing this post about gold, but she’ll just have to deal. I tried to walk the fine line of fashionably hardcore on this one. Again, like I said, it started out with the jeans from Valiant and worked its way from there. Note that the jeans are a very super low-rise cut. I tried looking at some tanks to possibly wear with these, but nothing of quality was low enough to cover. That being said, they’re very low and if love to flaunt your skin’s perfectly crafted treasure trail…I suggest you get these jeans.

The next piece of the puzzle that I dropped in was the .sey mesh hat with black hair. Walking around with the jeans on, I knew that would fit perfectly with this look. It’s actually reminiscent of the New Orleans Saints’ helmet with the colors and fleur de lis emblem. The trucker chic hat so popularized by Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake (not his illegitimate half brother Catero) comes to life in this hat.

After both the hat and jeans were set into the outfit, I looked it over. I just knew that I needed a quality pair of boots to complete it. I dove into my inventory like Scrooge McDuck into his vault of coins, but I came up with no gold. I had to outsource this one and found the perfect way to do so in the Terminator boots from Gutterblood Spoonhammer. Not only do these boots fit this outfit, but they do it at a great bargain. They happen to be an older pair of boots from Gutterblood and he has drastically reduced the price on his stuff. These boots cost me….wait for it….wait for it……L$100! I know it’s amazing quality (as is just about every pair of boots that Gutterblood puts out) for that cheap. For example, the detail of dirt on the bottom of his Slander boots (also L$100) to give it that real outlaw cowboy feel.

Moving right along we have the watch that I featured in my throwdown, but in a different form. In the throwdown I needed it to be blue, but along with a silver version (silver band and silver surrounding with a black face) this watch also has a gold laced silver version. The details on this watch are exquisite and that does come with a slightly hefty price tag as well. To put it in perspective, this watch has a lower price point (L$495) than most of the watches you can find @ GOS.

The final portion of this that needs to be talked about are the tattoos from iNFLiCT. This one is called Serenity with a playful koi across the front and skulls piling up on the upper arms. I really like the tat’s from iNFLiCT and, as with many places these days, you get them in multiple opacity and versatile layers to fit with anything you’ve got. I prefer tattoos that are black rather than those that are colored because A) the black works much better on the darkness of my skins and B) I’ve only seen one colored tattoo in SL that I actually liked how it looked. A lot of times colored tattoos come off as simply images slapped on an avatar, rather than a true body art. The realistic appeal seems to fade when you throw sharp colors at avatars in SL.

I think that just about covers everything I’ve got on that aren’t the usuals. Thanks for reading and when the inspiration strikes, I’ll be back for more.

Peace, love, and respect
– Oscar

My Morning…er…Favorite Jackets

Helloooooooooooo everybody! I’m back! *toots horn like James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thang”* Alright, I took a lot of time here and put together a large collection of my favorite jackets. What really got the ball rolling on this were the Tracksuits from GearShift. Donovan Brennen (creator) unveiled them for the Harajukubox event that they had a little while back. Unfortunately one of the three that were out was exclusive to the event, so the Mech Love style that I have with a Mech pattern on them is no longer available. Anyhoo….that’s actually what got me started on jackets. The way I’m going to slide you shoulders and zip you up into these jackets would be in this order: Blues, Black & Red, Dressy, and Leather. Some of the items will overlap categories, but generally I think I got them in the right spots.

Let’s start this off with the Blues. The main shot (closeup) is a jacket I picked up a little while ago when I first got tped into Novocaine on one of Pheobe’s shopping trips. The official name of it would be the Dusk Rider. I really love the color splashes across this jacket because theyI coupled it up with GearShift Maverick jeans in ripped faded blue. I really like all of the new jeans that GearShift has out because they go with just about everything. Down to my feet, we’ve got the essential FNKY! Racers in Blue. I was really really enamored with these when they first came out and they reminded me a lot of one of my favorite shorts from The Animatrix (pic & link to short on YouTube). Finishing off this outfit we have my classic Alaskan Aviators from The Young Urban and on top is the hairstyle Dan from UncleWeb Studios in cool black. Let me tell you something about what UncleWeb does with their hair that I really like is that they mold the hair to different head styles. Style A is for a thinner head and then Style B is for a wider/more round head. I love this option because often I’ll buy a hair that was created for a thinner head style (as my head is more round) and you almost need to adjust a multitude of prims to get it right. If you’re just trying to enlarge the hairstyle using your basic stretch tools, you’ll end up with (not a forehead or a fivehead, but…) a sixhead.

Blue Jackets Collage

Moving down the line we’ve got the jacket portion of the aforementioned GearShift Tracksuit. This would be the jacket from the M.I.A. Track Jacket, which will definitely let you fly like paper and get high like planes. It may also aide in you becoming a bonafide huslta makin’ your name. This jacket comes with matching pants as well that are a basic black with the same double blue stripes up the seams. Last, but certainly not least, is the Armidi Moto Leather Jacket in Jumper. I was one of the lemmings that got the group notice and rushed over to check them out. The colors on this one are pretty excellent, as is almost everything that Hudsen Armidi (Emma Gilmour) puts out. Some of the other colors you may remember from such pop references as Michael Jackson’s red jacket and Uma Thurman’s iconic yellow Kill Bill outfit. A final note on this collection would be that before my hard drive crash and all of my images from the S/S09 collections were wiped, the dominant color throughout a lot of the collections was a blue like the one displayed in the Novocaine jacket and FNKY! Racers.

Gliding right along here we get to some more of the fall colors and my favorite black & red jackets. First, please note that an extra one to this can be noted in my last fashion post with the latest Laqroki jacket that I love. The jackets that I tossed into this one would be from Civvies, Moderno, Sinistyle, and Armidi Limited.

Black & Red Jacket Collage

The full picture on the left is the Charlatan coat in black from Civvies. I really like this jacket. It just feels fuzzy and warm, but with badass written all over it. The cut and style of it reminds me of coats that the Russians wore in WWII (if they buttoned up the middle and had forearm straps/belts). The first iteration of this came in the form of a coat named Road Agent and Posy had branched it off into a few different styles in its evolution. Going down the middle we have the Moderno Block Track jacket in red. Despite the tragic event that occurred with Ginny Talamasca, Starley Thereian still has the selection of clothing that she made for Moderno out in the Lithium City sim. What I love the most about this jacket is that it really hones in the 80s sports effect. Again reminiscing, but it reminds me of something that Kevin Kline would’ve worn in The Big Chill. Yes, I was only 1 when that movie came out, but that doesn’t refute the fact that it’s a classic movie with an amazing soundtrack. Moving right along, footloose and fancy free. The bottom jacket is Sinistyle and at the time it was a capitalization on the hit TV show Heroes. Although originally made because Sylar was the villain in Seasons 1 & 2, Sylar is now maybe a good guy? A few too many plot twists in this latest season (#3) to know exactly where Sylar lies. He’s in a sea of gray with a lot of other characters. Ok, I’m a Heroes freak! I’m sorry! Let me get at why I like this coat 1) I love the cut of it and how the flexi moves when you walk. 2) The shine texture on the shirt underneath. Though simply designed after the character, the shine fabric brings this older coat very fashion forward. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of items that are overly shiny, but you gotta hit ’em with a little shine. Finally, in this we’ve got Armidi Limited’s Military Refuge jacket in red. This, like a coat coming up later, is a very very classic coat and the military theme that strutted its way down the runways earlier this year for the F/W ’08 collections. As with most everything @ Armidi Limited, this coat comes in a plethora of colors (10 total if memory serves me correctly and mostly darker tones) to fit anything you want to wear.

The next set of jackets I’m going to toss you way would be my dressier coats. Although, that’s not saying that you cannot wear them with jeans because they actually do work very well with them and that is demonstrated in my collage here:

Dressy Collage

Left to right here we have the MUWU English Boy blazer and shirt combo, Savvy Avvy black woolen coat, and Back & Forth’s pea coat in black. The MUWU English Boy I came across in another blog back in April. To be honest, I never really wore it all that much because I couldn’t get a color scheme that blended well enough back then. While throwing this idea around in my head and cruising through my inventory, I came across it again, and somehow it just clicked as to what I should toss on with it. In this shot we have Elephant Outfitters – Classic Elephant Jeans in a Dirty Dark wash, Hoorenbeek’s Patagonia Boots in Used Black, and Aitui’s Double Wrap Muffler Scarf in Storm. Down the line we have the Savvy Avvy black woolen coat. It’s an older coat, but still an excellent coat. I really like how the black and cream colors are coordinated here. The scarf and gloves both come with the coat as well as the multitude of attachments. It has a very Londoner feel to it. I could see Prince William strutting around town in this jacket on a snowy, English day. Lastly, we have an even older coat from Back & Forth. This has to be one of my favorite sets of pea coats because A) They’re in expensive, B) They remind me of a pea coat that I actually own, and C) They go with a lot of different things. Though they’re now outdated in terms of true quality, I still love these pea coats like no tomorrow. Also, added in here is the Gritty Kitty stripes & plaids scarf. This scarf is touch scripted to change into 9 different textures and I own just about all of the scarves from Gritty Kitty as I love them so much.

The last group of jackets can be found on the beaches of Florida, if we were talking about human leathery skin in this case. 🙂 This is a collection of some of my favorite leather coats, but these are your more traditional leather coats (unlike the leather moto jacket from Armidi that was mentioned before.

Leathers Collage

Again working left to right we have the Amodica ~ Rider in Copper. This coat comes in a multitude of colors. Randomly at a fashion show (I can’t remember which) I saw someone rocking this in white and it looked just as great as this one in copper. I really love the rich color in this coat. It gives it that extra tint of authenticity, if you will. The next coat in line is about the most badass coat in the entire group. This is an older coat that’s now only available via SL Exchange from Brutal Gear. The leather on this coat almost exudes the stories of the road that it was worn on. To cap it off it has spiked shoulder prims and a thick, loose belt strap. If you need a coat that says “Don’t even think about messing with me in a bar fight” this is it. The next up is actually a full outfit from TheZoo called Aviator with a single item switched out (Shai’s Men’s Ribbed tank in cream instead of the shirt). This is one of the first coats that I liked that connected at mid-torso and actually 1 of the first stores I’ve ever encountered where I don’t have to adjust any of the parts because they fit my larger av perfectly 99% of the time. I really wish that Froddo Beck would keep creating as he hasn’t put out anything in a long time. I think there’s a lot more depth of to his line that he hasn’t tapped into, and I hate to see a designer fall short of the potential that I see in his current clothing. This is a classic cool outfit in my inventory that I could wear to just about anywhere. The flexi is very well done. Saving one of the best for last, I first became obsessed with this coat when, again, I was perusing the crowd at a fashion show and saw it on Daydream Langway. I went to EtchD not even searching for this Drifter Gunslinger coat in brown because at that time I was looking for new tats and I had given up on my search. EtchD is mainly known for the tats, but this coat is amazing. You get a wonderful leather coat with a tattoo-inspired design on it. I truly love the brilliance of that as a male consumer. It’s along the same lines as an Ed Hardy, but much less colorful and gives a strong male feel to it. I love the Wild West feel to it as well like an updated version of the outlaw’s jacket. For a closer look at the design on this as well as the back of the jacket from TheZoo, check them out here.

That’s all I have for this time through of my favorite jackets. I’m sure down the road, I’ll make updates or probably forgot one that got lost in my immense inventory, but for now this is a solid representation of all of my favorite coats in all of SL. I’d strongly suggest dropping by the slurls below and grabbing all of these jackets as the weather begins to fade toward the middle of fall with winter just turning onto the block. I just hope our winter doesn’t extend into March as shown in my Snowmageddon pix on my Flickr (add me as a contact if you want to see them). Anyway enough of my rambling, here are the full credits for all of the pictures above. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll try my best to not hold out this long for future posts.

Surf’s Up

On Saturday a notice drifted on shore in the upper right portion of my screen. The notice was about new board shorts and bikinis from Armidi. I quickly grabbed the hand of my favorite woman and we fought the waves upon waves of lag that flow through that Armidi sim. After overcoming enough swells we finally got to the area where we could grab our board shorts and bikinis. I decided that this post needed the most epic of pictures. Okay so these pictures aren’t epic, but the location that I went to does have some epic waves. I hit up Surf Republic @ Bundoran Reef (slurl) to grab my shots. The wave in the Bundoran Reef was very nice to ride out and as long as you’re handy with your W, A, and D keys, you’ll have a really fun time. If you want to step it up a level you can hit up the bigger wave in the next sim over named Neart (slurl).

**best viewed in large form**

Alright enough of the surf let’s get to the garb. I had some troubles getting the right tee for this outfit. I dug through my inventory at first, but then remembered that it was the alter ego of Emma Gilmour (Hudsen Armidi) that made the Floral Curve Boardshorts you see here. Thus, I headed over to Sand Shack Surf Co to pick up this fantastic Vintage T-Shirt tee. The hue fit perfectly and it’s even fresh tasting! At least that’s what the shirt tells me.

Now, you would think I have the self control to only buy 1 pair…but not so much. I also picked up a couple more pairs (same styles, but different colors (notice no u in my colors)). I was really drawn to the Checkered Boardshorts for some reason. Without the prim bottoms they’re fantastic, but if you’re trying to add the prim bottoms to them and you’re a perfectionist like myself…good luck to you sir, you have more patience than myself.

L to R we have the white/silver and the dark gray/black Checkered Boardshorts

Now to finish this outfit off I had throw in the latest in my favorite shoes. The Pornstars from Urban Bomb Unit are amazing. I really really love these shoes. They’re worn in and the options, OH the options. 36 different fabric colors, 27 different lace styles, ability to change the stitch color, ability to change the soles (black & white), and ability to even change the loop hole color. Almost option overload…almost. I have to say that they’re the best Chuck Taylors for the price and you have to love patch “Vestirse como una Pornstar”. As Ron Burgundy said to his dog Baxter, “You know I don’t speak Spanish. In English please.” They say “To dress one’s self like a pornstar.” They’re in your face and versatile. I will cherish them forever and ever.

L to R: Burberry, Black, Tattoo

I love everything in this outfit and would direct anybody to any of these stores for this stuff. It’s all fantastic and definitely some must-haves. To wrap it all up here, I give you some surf-inspired music…

Forgotten Rebels – Surfin’ on Heroin

Air – Surfing on a Rocket

Fatboy Slim – Soul Surfing

Beach Boys – Surfer Girl

Jack Johnson – Drink the Water

And suits so fine they make Sinatra look like a hobo…

John Coltrane – My Favorite Things

Okay so maybe my suits aren’t as fantastic as that of Ron Burgundy or Ol’ Blue Eyes, but this is a selection of my favorite suits in ALL of my virtual closet. I’ll give you my most classic and iconic suits that I’ve collected over my years in this fantastic world of SecondLife™, and you’ll get these in chronological order. My favorite dress shoes will be sprinkled throughout these shots, but I’ll give you the skinny on those at the tail end here. I’m not much for hype, so let’s get into this…

#1 Musashi Do ~ Nottingham Winter ~ L$250 (slurl)

Acquired: December 13, 2004

**checking on current availability of watch**
Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Brown L$325
Hair: Armidi – The Grammar in Chocolat L$295 (4-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Clean Shaven L$1,850 single (L$3,000 pack)

This suit is the oldest suit in my entire inventory and I clearly remember buying this suit. I really felt like I needed to step up my game. I had barely dabbled in fashion back then as I was n00bled with a basic hair afro that only makes its way out with the 70’s novelty Travolta Suit from Shai (and hair pick my fantastic former friend Inez Angelus made for me). That being said…no I will not show you any pictures of my afro. Alright, enough history back to the suit. Despite its age this suit has a whole lot of pop in it. When I put on this suit again to shoot it, I felt a great sense of pride. That pride is rooted in actually having the tools in my closet today that can really demonstrate how amazing and put-together this suit was. The shoes, skin, and hair really unlock the potential that always resided in this deep blue suit. Do yourself a favor and stop by Musashi Do to pick this suit up. You won’t regret it and for the price you really can’t.

#2 DE Designs ~ DE After 5 Tux in Silver ~ L$500 (slurl)

Acquired: December 26, 2005

** Cartier Tank Francaise watch no longer available in-world that I know of**
Glasses: Damani – TopRim Glasses L$70
Ring: Blue Stone – Mens Black Onyx & Diamond Ring L$250
Shoes: Shiny Things – City Walk Shoes – Black L$300
Hair: Armidi – The Grammar in Midnight II L$295 (5-pack)
Skin: The Abyss – Scorpio_Osiris 1(C) Smooth L$2,000 single (L$4,800 set)

The story behind the After 5 Suit from DE Designs is not all that long, but, as noted by the date acquired, has lasted a very long time. This suit is essentially an upgrade to my suits that I would always wear to weddings in SL. My original suit that I’d always wear to weddings was from DFO and at this time I decided that it was again time to step up my game. This is the best wedding-capable suit that I have in my inventory and to this day I still get IM’s about this suit…even when I’m in Blaze right before a ceremony for a friend and looking to see what suits Mr. Columbia had available. I literally laughed out loud when the IM “Hey I’m shopping for a suit for my bf. Where did you get your suit?” came in. It also gives me a nice segue into my next suit.

#3 Blaze ~ Men’s Power Suit in Charcoal ~ L$500 (slurl)

Acquired: March 17, 2007

Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: JCS (Jeepers Creepers) – H&H Black Oxfords L$200
Hair: Naughty – Modern Edge in Black Pearl L$300 (3-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

Who says men don’t like options? Personally, I’m a huge fan of options. Although, to put it in man terms, think of it as a pair of reversible shorts. Same item, but multiple usage. I mean this suit comes packed with stuff. You get 4 different base shirts (biz blue, black, charcoal, white) and 11 ties (black, blue, gold, green, lavender, mauve, peach, red, turquoise, white, yellow). Needless to say your mix and match possibilities are really endless. Some of the hues of the ties won’t work with some of the shirts, but that’s straight up my opinion by what I see with how the tie melds with the rest of the suit. Also, I’m not a huge fan of the skirt layer for suit jackets as I am a larger av. More often than not you have to make it so poofy that it ends up looking like a parachute even with a size 0 butt. Overall I think Blaze executed the skirt layer quite well on this suit jacket. It’s much better than most other suits that I’ve gotten with the skirt layer on the jacket. I think it would be a fantastic to have the ability to use a long jacket layer OR a skirt layer. That way it would cater to all shapes and sizes so much better. Even with that, the options on this suit largely outweigh any skirt layer issues. It’s a fantastic suit.

#4 *Shai* ~ The Luna Suit ~ L$600 (slurl)

Acquired: June 26, 2007

**Cartier Tank Francaise watch and Last Call BIshonen Men’s Dog Tags no longer available in-world**
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Brown L$325
Hair: Gritty Kitty – Czech Mate in Black L$130 (single)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

Oh the Shai Luna suit…I can’t explain how amazing it felt when I slipped into this. As soon as this suit rezzed on me I was amazed with it. It was the first time I felt a true air of confidence simply by the clothes I was wearing. Immediately I told people about how I felt like Rusty, the supremely confident and put-together character that Brad Pitt played in all of the Ocean’s Eleven movies. It’s that classic cool that is unmatchable by anything in the entire world. Of this collection of my favorites, I’m extremely partial to this one. Shai does such an amazing job on the textures of this suit. I had already purchased my fantastic Travolta suit and the Adulterer suit from Shai, but this was really a designer’s “coming out party” for Shai. She really blew up on the male fashion scene when this suit hit the shelves and I really can’t see why she wouldn’t. Shai! <3!

#5 Styles of Edo ~ Flannel Suit L$200 + Shirt & Tie Rp L$68 (slurl)

Acquired: July 22, 2007

Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Shoes: JCS (Jeepers Creepers) – H&H Black Oxfords L$200
Hair: Armidi – The Law in Midnight II L$295 (5-pack)
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

In this shot here…I feel like its a cross between businessman and mobster. I really like this suit’s classic lines. The amount of options that are available for this suit are comparable to that of the Blaze Power Suit. I say that because on the wall (currently upstairs) at Styles of Edo there is an abundance of shirts and tie combos for L$68. Personally, I stylized this with the purple shirt and funky tie because I felt like I had to throw a little texture at this one. This is most definitely applicable in a RL sense as well. To liven up a suit that feels pretty basic and flat, all you need to do is add just a hint of spice to it like a funky tie, a shirt with some low shine to it or, if available, even a pocket square in a bright color that lights up your personality a little. (btw both suits sandwiching this one have pocket squares…go figure) Where’s my straight eye for the straight guy show? 😉

#6 Redgrave ~ Black Striped Suit L$850 (slurl)

Acquired: September 8, 2007

**Again watch no longer available in-world that I know of**
Shades: Armidi Gisaci – Lifestyle Aviators – Silver L$325
Ring: Blue Stone – Mens Black Onyx & Diamond Ring L$250
Shoes: Shiny Things – Spencers in Black L$325
Hair: Aitui – Sleepwalk Hair in Black L$225
Skin: FNKY! Antonio Dark – Baby Face Soul L$1,850 single (L$3,000 set)

The last, but certainly not least, favorite suit I have to give you would be the Redgrave Black Striped suit. I’m not going to BS you about this. I really wavered as to whether I should buy this suit or not because of the price tag. Don’t get me wrong, this suit is really amazing, but maybe it’s just in my blood that I’m a little on the cheap side when it comes down to actually throwing down the L$ for something. The quality of this suit is undeniable and I think that’s what drove me to buying it despite its price tag. This suit simply exudes excellence with its clean pinstripes. It almost feels like a casual suit for Sammy Davis, Jr. updated to fit today’s fashion standards. It also comes with a buttoned-up shirt as well if you’d like to close it up and make it more formal, but I love a good casual suit.

Finally, the shoes that I dig the most. I know that there are a lot of dress shoes out there good and bad, but here are my favorites. These shoes have stood up to the test for every situation where I have needed to wear a suit and never faltered. The Spencers from Shiny Things are the best to work the dressy casual angle and the other three tend to lean toward the dressier side of the scale.

L to R: Shiny Things – City Walk in Black + Brown, Shiny Things – Spencers Black + Brown, Jeepers Creepers – H&H Black Oxfords

I really hope that this post was helpful to those of you out there searching for a quality suit. I stand behind every single one of these suits that I showed you guys today. There are more suits in my inventory that I’d love to show, but I really had to limit myself to 6 here. If I wrote about them all, you’d all go crazy at how long this post is. That is if you’re not even reading this because you stopped reading already. lol Other notable suits that were not pictured or mentioned in this post would be Simone’s Carl Suit in Olive and the Blaze Regal Tux – Special Edition. This is what I’ve got and what you can look forward to in my posts. May your second lives be brighter and more fashionable!
