NYE 2010

You know you’re either doing it right now or are going to do it some time today. I’ve done it a few times where I’m searching and searching, but break down and just go with an old standby. You need to find that suit that’s going to get you through New Year’s Eve. Often I’ve found my suit 30min before shoving off to a NYE party. Thankfully I had this one cleaned, pressed, and sent my way c/o Jura Shepherd for Shiki Designs, so let’s get into it:

Shiki Style

Whoa… what is this thing? Do I still blog here or something? đŸ˜› It has been a few weeks since I peeked into here, but I’ve been a very busy man RL and had a few things come my way lately that I had no choice but to put them up.

Guess Who’s Back

Back again? Shai-De’s back. Tell a friend! So I recently got the opportunity to… leave right before one of my best friends in SL had her show at Modavia’s SL Fashion Week. Hey I had a family dinner reservation to celebrate my brother’s engagement! Valid reason to leave! I know… she’ll hate me now and later… as if that even changes from how we previously were. đŸ˜‰ Anyway she was gracious enough to still toss me a blogger’s pack of her new stuff! \o/ Here’s my look that I cooked up from it:

The Blues

So I know I’ve mentioned it before in previous posts, and it has definitely been noticed by friends as well (i.e. Ryan Daragh of Men’s Second Style), that I have a terrible affection for the color blue. It’s true and often I can’t shake it. Let’s get into these two looks of mine that just sort of popped up out of nowhere:

Vinny Chase

Hello! Yes I still have a blog! Yes my life has been hectic over the past… *goes to check when my last real post was* month! Sports and activities that required a pint glass in front of me have been taking up a lot of my time lately and I’m finally getting around to posting here. So if you don’t know who Vincent Chase is, well I’m sorry to hear that because he’s a character on one of my favorite shows of all time, Entourage. I mean from the insecurities of a superstar actor to all of the gorgeous women that grace the screen to all of the hot cars they drive to just imagining about what it would be like to have a best friend who’s a world renowned film actor. If I had to pick one character on the show that best exemplifies me or what I’d like to be, it’d have to be Eric. BUT, for this post, I went with Vinny Chase because of the hair… So here are some of the essentials of the Vinny Chase lifestyle:

S/S11 – Milan

Hoooooray for holiday weekends… at least in the USA here. Earlier this week I was talking to a co-worker and she mentioned that soon enough we’ll forced back into cold here in the Midwest. So I replied to her that the people in the trend department already have their eyes focused on 2011 with all of the runway shows that happening in Milan. This sparked my memory that I really haven’t done any of my favorite looks from the RL runway in a long time. Since the Milan shows only happened a couple of weeks ago, I figured I’d jump right on it and get you some of my fave looks. I’ll work this alphabetically by designers that had looks I liked and give short descriptions of what I like. FYI all of these images were taken by Andrew Thomas for GQ.com, except for the Moschino images, which were given to GQ directly from Moschino.

Well Suited… Again (Sartoria Part II)

Well good evening everybody! Welcome back to my crazy world of Second Life fashion for part deux of my looks for Sartoria. How odd is it that it seems that all of my posts are showing up on Sundays… almost like I’m on a schedule. That’s it I need to make a post that comes out next Wednesday just to throw you all for a loop. To be honest, I’ve just had a few busy weeks with doing RL things and the weekends are really the only time I have time to post. Enough RL BS let’s get you my looks ASAP:

Sartoria Suits #1

Alright, so I may or may not have had these suits sitting in my inventory since oh… late January sounds right. Occasionally, as mentioned above, I get busy and posts get delayed, but my penchant for shopping really never ends. Above I have my two favorite suits from the Sartoria collection: The Martin suit (left) and The Velvet Suit (right).

Well Suited

I’m back again with a few things that got caught into my backlog. So a long while back Shiryu Musashi of Musashi Do dropped these great suits on me with his new InfiniTie system in them. What I mean by a long while back is… I wore one of the suits to a big New Year’s Eve party. I had almost given up hope that I’d actually get my ass in gear and blog them, but I finally decided that this would be the perfect time to blog them. Alright, enough of my crazy talk here’s the pic:

Well Suited

The collection of suits that I have here are all inspired by cities in Italy (Rome, Torino, and Milan) and they’re all very fantastically crafted suits. For my explanations here we’ll work this group of suits as it’s setup left to right. Please also note that because I was given all of these suits, I did a lot of mixing and matching to get the ties that I liked. To be honest, I don’t think any of the ties I have above originally come with any of the suits.

Final Quickie!

Okay, so we’re @ the final Quickie post of my initial just “snap snap snap snap, write whenever.” I think may carry this over into the future though. I know I hit you guys with a lot of looks and a lot of words, but I’m going to try to pare that down some and hit you with the core of one look per post. Although that doesn’t mean I’m not going hit you with another multi-look post some time in the near future (I do have one planned). Here’s the look for you (yes, specifically you):

Quickie #5

Honestly here, there’s only really one main thing to talk about here and that’s the suit from Lapointe & Bastchild. It’s probably one of, if not THE, best shawl collar suits that I’ve seen in SL. I think the first time I saw it was when I spied it out on somebody at the Opium Babes in Toyland fashion show. They have some that are more for weddings, but this version is the casual one and it’s really great casual fashion suit. I love change up of the fabric type on the piping to give a little subtle contrast around the edges. It’s not in your face obvious, but it’s definitely there to catch the eye of those around you. For the pop of color I went with the teal shirt for underneath (officially named Jade if you’re out buying it) because teal isn’t often used as a color for pop, but I think it works fantastically in this suit. And also, since I bought this the suit it has been updated such that you now have a version of the suit jacket where it’s open and closed. It’s now even more of a deal for the same price.

Another little piece I wanted to talk about are the shoes from Zhao. I know I mentioned them once in a HUGE 6-outfit post, but here’s another pair from there in a more intimate, one-on-one setting. In construction they’re a lot like the JCS shoes that I wore in a previous post, but in texture they’re definitely different shoes. I especially like the little perforations on the toe cap.

Alright, so that’s all I’ve got on this one. Stay tuned because I should have another post on the way very soon. Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day/evening/whatever-it-is-where-you-are-right-now. đŸ˜‰

Lazy Blogger

Why hello! Hey, what’s this blog thing about? I’m still a serial shopper in SL, I just haven’t had much time to stop and write about some of the stuff that I’ve picked up. While typing this out, I bought 3 hairs from CheerNo. Thankfully, my kickball tournament I was supposed to play in yesterday got pushed to next weekend and the Green Bay Packers have a bye week and don’t play today. đŸ˜‰ Alright alright, enough about the craziness of my RL, let’s hit you with the first one:

Lazy Blogger #1

The first thing I need to talk about is the reopening of Lookr. Adam Soler and Fayne Khandr have taken a bold direction with their new business. The first and most obvious is that they’re focusing solely on creating t-shirts. No more suits, pants, jeans, button-up shirts, etc. Also if you go to their website, you can shop for you or your avatar. The “Shop For You” button actually takes you to a webpage where you can buy the Lookr designs on actual t-shirts. The other main bold direction they explained in a notecard sent out to bloggers. Here’s some direct text from the notecard where they explain:

Another change we’re making is that from our reopening, we will be donating 15% of all our sales to charity. We’re supporting the A21 Campaign – you can find out more information here: http://www.thea21campaign.org/ (please note, the site contains information on human trafficking that you may find disturbing).

It’s truly a noble cause and definitely something that will make you realize that even though you’re buying a very nice t-shirt, you’re also indirectly donating to a truly noble cause.

Lazy Blogger #2

Next up we’ve got a look that I just sort of tossed together. What sort of sparked this look sort of came from two different subscribe-o-matic (s-o-m) groups. #1 Naith Smit put out a notice to his s-o-m group about his Team Kanye shirts. I noticed that in the ad he put together for the shirts that he had some excellent jeans on. Low and behold just to my left in his store, there were the jeans, so I picked ’em up in a couple of colors and I’m showing the black ones here. #2 zippir Kayo who used to run the :::LINE::: store announced to her s-o-m group that she was joining forces with the King For Men store. Her notice reminded me that I haven’t actually been to King For Men in a long time, so I stopped in to see what he had going on and what new products he had added since my last visit. The sweater here is called Spur and I really liked the checked pattern that he put to it. Also, I thought it was cool how the checked pattern fades towards the bottom of the garment.

Lazy Blogger #3

Last, but certainly not least here I tossed together a couple of outfits with a couple of great cardigans that I picked up along the way. The first, which I picked up in a few colors, is the relax knit sweater from Argrace. I really like how the name of relax knit sweater really describes the sweater to a T. The sweater gives you that lazy weekend J. Crew feel to it. The fact that it’s loosely buttoned and the sleeves are pushed, rather than strategically rolled up, adds to that description. Draping over the top of it is this fantastic scarf from The Dogs. I actually already owned the black and white version of this scarf, when I saw a red one on a KMadd shape ad for their Kanye shape. Again back to Kanye, he’s permeating the SL world with his shenanigans. Now that I think about it, the scarf would work pretty well with those Naith Smit jeans from the Kanye ad he had as well. The other cardigan I have on here to the right is another relaxed one from Laqroki. In the same sort of situation as the King For Men one, I just hadn’t checked out Laqroki’s clothing in a long time and I thought I’d stop by to check if they had anything new out or maybe just something that I saw before but it never piqued my interest. This cardigan falls in the “something that I saw before” category. Something about it caught my eye this time and I had to pick it up. I think it mainly caught my eye because of a Missoni sweater that I talked about from the F/W09 shows. The pattern is a LOT less busy, but it still has that same sort of feel and the shawl collars are very similar.

That’s everything I took pictures of so far. I may be able to sneak away some time and get a post up next weekend, but the week is packed ladies and gents. No promises. Enjoy your week everybody and stay fashionable.
